Yes. GV17 events are logged, so it can also be used as a simple access control system; for wireless access control, the GATOR RF-LoRa accessory provides a flexible solution. Time tracking is a separate feature with different functionality — our knowledge base provides detailed guidance.

With old firmware: download the latest firmware from the Downloads tab of the product page, rename it to rf-lora.fw, then connect the device over USB while holding the button down — on the drive that appears, replace the old rf-lora.fw file. With newer firmware the update is done with the TrikdisConfig software: Browse, then Upload.

The RF-LORA firmware can be updated in two ways, depending on which firmware is currently on the device.

With old firmware (USB drive method)

  1. Download the latest firmware from the Downloads tab on the RF-LORA product page, then rename the file to rf-lora.fw.
  2. Remove the device cover so that the USB connector is accessible.
  3. Press and hold the button on top of the device and, while still holding it, connect the device to the computer with a USB cable.
  4. A new drive appears on the computer. On that drive there is a file with the same name as the renamed firmware file: rf-lora.fw.
  5. Delete the old rf-lora.fw file from the drive, then copy the new, latest firmware file onto the drive.

With newer firmware (TrikdisConfig)

  1. Remove the device cover so that the USB connector is accessible, then connect the device to the computer with a USB cable.
  2. Start the TrikdisConfig programming software and follow the firmware update steps.
  3. Select the latest firmware file with the Browse button, then start the update with the Upload button.

Yes. Both expanders have 8 I/O terminals that can each be set as an input or an output; as inputs, the ATZ, EOL, NC and NO types are available. With ATZ zone doubling one expander provides 16 alarm zones instead of 8. Several resistor values can be used in ATZ and EOL circuits, so the existing wiring and resistors can be kept.

Yes, both expanders support ATZ zone doubling.

The IO8-LORA (wireless, via the RF-LORA transceiver) and the IO8 (wired, over RS485) each have 8 I/O terminals, and every terminal can be set individually as an input (IN) or an output (OUT).

As inputs, the following types are available: ATZ, EOL, NC, NO. With ATZ zone doubling one expander provides 16 alarm zones instead of 8.

Several resistor values can be used in ATZ and EOL circuits, so the wiring and the resistors of an existing system (Paradox, DSC, BOSCH, Crow) can be kept — when replacing a panel the detectors do not have to be rewired.

The input type and the resistor values are set in the alarm panel, using the TrikdisConfig programming software. The number of zones is of course limited by the total zone capacity of the panel.
