Serial Port Unlocking on Paradox Alarm Control Panels

Guide to unlocking the serial port on "+" series PARADOX control panels (SP5500+, SP6000+, SP7000+, and MG5050+) and EVO192*, EVOHD* (*Fw. 7.50+ and above).

Warning! If you update your EVO192 or EVOHD control panel to firmware version 7.50 or higher, the serial port on the panel will be locked!

Shortly after the serial port was locked, Trikdis developers released an update that allows Trikdis communicators E16, G16, GT, GT+, GET to continue working directly with these panels — but the serial port must be unlocked first.

Requesting the Unlock Code

Open the BlueEye (formerly Insite Gold) app on your phone and tap the menu button (3 horizontal lines) in the top right corner.
Go to the Installer section and log in. (An approved registration is required.)
Tap the 3 dots in the top right corner and select unlock panel.
Enter the serial number (S/N) of the panel you want to unlock. You can unlock multiple panels at once (up to 25).
Enter your billing details, fill in your card information, and complete the payment.
If everything was done correctly, the invoice and unlock code will arrive in your inbox within a few minutes. You can find your unlock codes in the purchase history at any time.

Info The purchased unlock code is tied to the panel and can be reused any time it needs to be unlocked again.

Unlocking the Panel

Paradox's programming software BabyWare will not help here — the relevant sections are not available in it.

The unlock code is an alphanumeric character sequence. Keypads that support alphanumeric input: K32LCD, K32LCD+, K641, K641+, K641R, K656, TM50 and TM70.

Connect a keypad to the control panel.
Enter the installer menu and navigate to:
- SP5500+, SP6000+, SP7000+, and MG5050+ — section 300
- EVO192*, EVOHD* (*Fw. 7.50+) — section 3000
On SP/MG systems, a locked panel displays SERIAL LOCKED — enter the code received from Paradox in place of that message. If the code is correct, the keypad confirms with a beep; an error tone indicates a wrong code. Exit and re-enter to verify. Success is confirmed by the "SERIAL UNLOCKED" message.

On EVO systems there is no message — rely on the confirmation beep, and check whether the device connected to the serial port starts communicating.

Warning! In all cases, power cycle the panel for at least 30 seconds for the serial port unlock to take effect!
